We are a non-profit, welfare organization
and do not receive any Government funding. Merien Smidt
recognised an on-going need for an animal welfare organisation
that focused on the health of the animals. Merien’s primary
aim is to provide a healthy, safe and stress-free environment
to aid the rehabilitation of the animals, as well as a beautiful
and happy space, for animals and human visitors alike. We
have 30 - 40 adults and 30 kittens at any one time, these
are just some of them. If there is a kitten or cat below
that you like, just remember to call us before coming for
a visit and to check availability. See 'Cat Stories' for
more cats!

Shelter Faces Closure
Due to continued Financial Constraints our Shelter faces Closure.
We are inundated with Cats and un-homeable Kittens and we simply cannot afford to look after them in the same way we have for the last
12 years.
We have never faced such a daunting situation, as we are a, No Kill Shelter, we don’t believe in putting a healthy animal down.
We are appealing to the Public, Friends and every Animal Lover
out there, to please help in any way possible:
Food, Blankets or Funds.

Was brought in with her babies, she is less than a year old herself, her babies will be ready for adoption in 6 weeks!
Ruby was also abandoned by her owners, with all her babies.

Very young mom, a real beauty, with gorgeous, fluffy babies, she was unwanted by her owner ( who didn't want a pregnant cat). Amazingly she never thought of spaying her just giving her away.
