Virtual Adoptions!

Over the years while homing kittens to the public, we have heard people say that they love animals and would love to adopt but for whatever reason, (allergies, viscous dogs, not allowed pets in complex etc.), they couldn’t make the commitment.

From our side we have another problem; too many animals, cats in particular. With not enough funding and manpower to care for all the unwanted cats we have decided to offer the public a chance to ‘adopt’ a cat without actually taking it home. For a minimum of R100.00 per month, you can adopt a cat that lives permanently at the shelter, this money will cover the food and general care, if the cat needs special veterinary care we will broach the adoptive parents for extra assistance should they be willing and able to do so.

You can also get involved with the cats life by coming into our shelter giving him attention and extra care, treats etc. This could make an enormous difference to the lives of our permanent residents, we are very excited and so are the cats!

Gruff Mommy had beautiful kittens, who we homed and now live in the lap of luxury, unfortunately she was too wild to adopt out. Gruff has been virtually adopted and cared for by Beth Hughes since May 2012.	Sabbath Stunning semi feral boy, 1 year old, not tame enough to find a home although he'd love to one day... Sabbath has been virtually adopted and cared for by LJ van den Heever since February 2013.	Mike Tyson The King of the Shelter, came in with a broken leg, bad flu and everything else that could be wrong with a cat, including FIV. That was 6 years ago and he is still going strong with his fan club of young boy (kitties) that totally idolize him. Although he has tested positive for cat Aids he cannot pass it onto the other cats as he is not a fighter. He cannot ever be homed as a new environment would stress him out and his immune system would be compromised again and he would get sick. Mike Tyson has been virtually adopted and cared for by Meagan and Jaco since March 2010.

Teddy Very nice cat came in 4 years ago, can't find home because she likes to give you a swipe whenever she really likes you! Teddy has been virtually adopted and cared for by Meagan and Jaco since March 2010.	Kato 3 years old slightly skitty, but gorgeous came in with bro. Cosack (the handsome boys of the shelter) Kato has been virtually adopted and cared for by Rein and Warren since September 2010.	Sister Mary Angus 1 year old found at Catholic church. Sister Mary Angus has been virtually adopted and cared for by Rupert Miller since April 2011.

Kyle Ken's identical twin, from a feral colony. Almost completely tame now. Kyle has been virtually adopted and cared for by Melissa Pretorius since September 2012.	Nellie Brought in with kittens years ago, she had skin cancer on her ear, which we had to amputate she is now fine but can't be rehomed. Nellie has been virtually adopted and cared for by Tammy Williams since February 2010.	Cosack Kato's brother both quite tame now, movie-star good looks. Cosack has been virtually adopted and cared for by Lauren Urmson since February 2010.

Burt Handsome black gentleman, completely tame even though he came in as an adult feral. Burt has been virtually adopted and cared for by Lelaine Smith since February 2010.	Tin Tin Another feral rescue, now happily living at Kitty Shelter Tin Tin has been virtually adopted and cared for by Dr. Nicolette Houreld since February 2010.	Cappuchino Owner dumped him on Wits Campus, hurt is leg and because it went untreated for so long that when he was finally brought to us the nerves were already dead, making his front leg unusable. Wonderful character, very nice looking. Cappuchino has been virtually adopted and cared for by Elna since March 2010.

Levi This is Levi, he is a 3 year old male, tailless( came in that way, nobody knows the reason) Abyssinian cat with the most loving, soppy nature you could ever find. The problem is we can't seem to find him a home because he is a wanderer and this is how he ended up at us in the first place. People are scared to adopt him in case he makes a run for it and land himself in trouble, again. We therefor have to put him up for virtual adoption, he's been with us for months and months already. Levi has been virtually adopted and cared for by Rebecca Garratt and by Glynnis Koch since March 2013.	Simon Siamese-Cross, 1 year old boy, he was rescued, and now virtually adopted by Genevieve. When she saw at a Sandton Restaurant, he had a septic wound on his back, it looked like he had been beaten. He had to undergo various operations in order to get it to heal. He is also FIV positive, therefore cannot be homed. Simon has been virtually adopted and cared for by Genevieve since January 2011.	Savannah This is Savannah, a one year old female, she is very lucky to be alive after being caught in a snare on a farm. She was brought in badly injured around her waist and arm, the snare had left her with open wounds that couldn't be stitched because the skin had 'died'. The wounds could only heal with time, she had to spend 6 weeks of cage rest in order for the wounds to heal. On top of all this she also went into labour and gave birth to very premature kittens who died within hours of being born. The only remaining wound is shown in the picture attached it will take another month or so. She is a very special girl who loves a cozy lap to lie on. Savannah has been virtually adopted and cared for by Anne Botha since February 2013.

Domino 1 year old feral male, cute wants to tame desperately! Domino has been virtually adopted and cared for by Rhona Fourie since February 2011	Maria Callas Maria Callas has been virtually adopted and cared for by Ori. De Korte since August 2011.	Elvis Came in as a baby but was not interested in people at all loves his life at the shelter with big Mike to look after him. Elvis has been virtually adopted and cared for by Diane Mitchley since April 2012

Rumi Rumi has been virtually adopted and cared for by Ori. De Korte since August 2011.	Mimi Little Mimi girl has been at the Shelter since she was a 10 week old kitten, she never tamed completely, still a bid timid although she appreciates one on one time with humans, she needs to find somebody to virtually adopt her, to help with her upkeep while she lives at the Shelter. Mimi has been virtually adopted and cared for by Anne Botha since February 2013.	Nikita Wild beauty 4 years old. Nikita has been virtually adopted and cared for by Sharon Gough since May 2012.

Zinzi Never homed feral but quite tame. Zinzi has been virtually adopted and cared for by Chantelle Morrison and Johann de Swardt since April 2012.	Felix 6 month old boy with the best nature. Felix has been virtually adopted and cared for by Sasha Holz since May 2012.	Diesal Has been with us for over a year now and has tamed beautifully from a very scared little feral kitten. Diesal has been virtually adopted and cared for by Ayesha Essop since September 2012.

Russian Blue Feral Russian Blue. Russian Blue has been virtually adopted and cared for by Vicki Saget since September 2012.	Tucker Young adult that is a very sweet feral boy who is getting friendlier every day. Tucker has been virtually adopted and cared for by Corrie Goosen since October 2012.	Tarquin As you can see our boy, 6 month old, is clearly petrified! As much as we try and show him that we won't harm him, he just won't believe us! Tarquin has been virtually adopted and cared for by Sharon Gough since May 2012.

Samson and Delilah Brother and Sister, came in with kittens but have never tamed, they slowly have to adapt to life at the shelter. Samson and Delilah has been virtually adopted and cared for by Lee-Anne Du Plooy since September 2012.	Harry (Thomas' brother) Harry has been virtually adopted and cared for by Chantelle Morrison and Johann de Swardt since April 2012.	Sebastion He is a young, tabby male who has been a resident of the shelter for about 8 months. Sebastion has been virtually adopted and cared for by Heather Hubbard since February 2012.

Tomkin This little mini cat is an adult now but looks like a kitten, he was very feral but is starting to relax and enjoy his life at the shelter. Tomkin has been virtually adopted and cared for by Amy Kay since May 2012.	Kenny He was found as a feral teenager at Shell Ultra City Middleburg, I rescued him myself! He was thin, starving and sick, he has totally recovered and is now a stunning young cat, but because he was found as a teenager and not a kitten he has not tamed enough to go into a home. Kenny has been virtually adopted and cared for by Angelique Laidlaw since November 2011.	Jake Jake has been virtually adopted and cared for by Ori. De Korte since August 2011.

Mom This Mom cat is very protective over her little baby that only has one eye, so ideally we would like to home them as a pair. Mom has been virtually adopted and cared for by Glynnis Koch since March 2013.	One eye'ed Jack This little kitten has lost one eye, Mom is very protective over him, so ideally he needs to be homed with his Mommy. One eye'ed Jack has been virtually adopted and cared for by Glynnis Koch since March 2013.	Siamese Siamese has been virtually adopted and cared for by Tammy Williams since March 2013.

Tony Tony the tabby abandoned with friend Gary , left to fend for themselves by ex owners who moved. Tony has been virtually adopted and cared for by Kim Dawson since May 2013.	Gary Gary abandoned with friend Tony , left to fend for themselves by ex owners who moved.
