Virtual Adoptions!

Over the years while homing kittens to the public, we have heard people say that they love animals and would love to adopt but for whatever reason, (allergies, viscous dogs, not allowed pets in complex etc.), they couldn’t make the commitment.

From our side we have another problem; too many animals, cats in particular. With not enough funding and manpower to care for all the unwanted cats we have decided to offer the public a chance to ‘adopt’ a cat without actually taking it home. For a minimum of R100.00 per month, you can adopt a cat that lives permanently at the shelter, this money will cover the food and general care, if the cat needs special veterinary care we will broach the adoptive parents for extra assistance should they be willing and able to do so.

You can also get involved with the cats life by coming into our shelter giving him attention and extra care, treats etc. This could make an enormous difference to the lives of our permanent residents, we are very excited and so are the cats!

Gruff Mommy had beautiful kittens, who we homed and now live in the lap of luxury, unfortunately she was too wild to adopt out.	Misty Had heart problems when she came in had to go on special meds, friendly but can't be homed because of health issues.	Jezebelle Came in last year after being attacked by a dog, owners gave her up because they couldn't afford vet fees. She is now in excellent health. Jezebelle has been virtually adopted and cared for by Stella Seaspirit since June 2010.

Mike Tyson The King of the Shelter, came in with a broken leg, bad flu and everything else that could be wrong with a cat, including FIV. That was 6 years ago and he is still going strong with his fan club of young boy (kitties) that totally idolize him. Although he has tested positive for cat Aids he cannot pass it onto the other cats as he is not a fighter. He cannot ever be homed as a new environment would stress him out and his immune system would be compromised again and he would get sick. Mike Tyson has been virtually adopted and cared for by Meagan and Jaco since March 2010.	The Tsabalala boys Feral's from a nursery, never tamed, think the shelter is the best place ever!	Teddy Very nice cat came in 4 years ago, can't find home because she likes to give you a swipe whenever she really likes you! Teddy has been virtually adopted and cared for by Meagan and Jaco since March 2010.

Kato 3 years old slightly skitty, but gorgeous came in with bro. Cosack (the handsome boys of the shelter)	Valentino Sweet boy found 5 years ago at Norwood Hyper. Valentino has been virtually adopted and cared for by Ming Allen since April 2010.	Howie Unwanted by owners brought into shelter 4 years ago, broke out, went home, found they had moved then came back! Howie has been virtually adopted and cared for by Kerrie and Howard since February 2010.

Kyle Ken's identical twin, from a feral colony. Almost completely tame now.	Nellie Brought in with kittens years ago, she had skin cancer on her ear, which we had to amputate she is now fine but can't be rehomed. Nellie has been virtually adopted and cared for by Tammy Williams since February 2010.	Cosack Kato's brother both quite tame now, movie-star good looks. Cosack has been virtually adopted and cared for by Lauren Urmson since February 2010.

Burt Handsome black gentleman, completely tame even though he came in as an adult feral. Burt has been virtually adopted and cared for by Lelaine Smith since February 2010.	Tat Unwanted feral is quite happy as long as she has her food, lots of it!	Came in as teenager, very sweet but not tame enough for homing.

Tin Tin Another feral rescue, now happily living at Kitty Shelter Tin Tin has been virtually adopted and cared for by Dr. Nicolette Houreld since February 2010.	Cappuchino Owner dumped him on Wits Campus, hurt is leg and because it went untreated for so long that when he was finally brought to us the nerves were already dead, making his front leg unusable. Wonderful character, very nice looking. Cappuchino has been virtually adopted and cared for by Elna since March 2010.	Elvis Came in as a baby but was not interested in people at all loves his life at the shelter with big Mike to look after him.

Wilson Black fluffy 6 month old, sweet young feral boy found in a garden. Wilson has been virtually adopted and cared for by Bridget Bernon since May 2010.	Billy Bob Came in as a 10 week old kitten from the township but had very bad skin allergies so was unlikely to find a home as he always looked like a 'bit of a mess'. He looks great now but he is one of too many adults that need homes. Billy Bob has been virtually adopted and cared for by Rein and Warren since June 2010.	Breezi Owners emigrated 4 years ago, never homed, from all the stress had several strokes, cannot be homed, she is the only resident allowed outside caged area as she can't run away. Breezi has been virtually adopted and cared for by Vera Whitehorn since May 2010.

Domino 1 year old feral male, cute wants to tame desperately!	Olivia 3 legged Mom. Olivia has been virtually adopted and cared for by Ori De Korte since April 2010.	Patches Feral mom, had beautiful kittens now with us to stay.

Akasha Feral Mom, gave birth to 5 kittens on 10th April 2010.. Akasha has been virtually adopted and cared for by Ori De Korte since April 2010.	Lucy 4 years old tiny sweet little Kitty Shy, scared.	Nikita Wild beauty 4 years old.

Zinzi Never homed feral but quite tame.	Crystal From Crystal Springs ex mom of 1 kitten now living with us. Crystal has been virtually adopted and cared for by Penny and Joshua Castle since July 2010.	Maggie Ex mom very sweet with people, very 'catty' with other cats!

Chloe 3 year old cat abandoned. Chloe has been virtually adopted and cared for by Ming Allen since April 2010.
